I receive the error message "Unable to complete the cell phone plan change"
Use the page content field for the main answer, steps, screenshots, and troubleshooting guidance.
The error message indicating that you cannot change your cellular plan may be due to an installation failure, often caused by various factors. Let's examine some possible reasons and their solutions.
First, you may already have too many eSIMs installed on your device. While eSIM-enabled devices allow for multiple eSIMs, the number that can be active simultaneously varies by model. For example, an iPhone can hold between five and ten eSIMs, depending on its storage capacity. For specific information about your model, it's best to contact your phone manufacturer directly.
If you've reached your eSIM storage limit, you can remove some older eSIMs from your device. To learn how, you can consult the guide "How do I remove an eSIM from my device?"
Another potential reason is that cellular or mobile data is disabled in your device's settings. Make sure they are enabled to avoid this type of problem.
It's also possible that you're trying to install an eSIM already in your device, which is usually not possible, as most eSIMs can only be installed once. To check if an eSIM is already installed, go to your settings by following this path: Settings > General > About. Then scroll down until you see the ICCID number, a 20-digit identifier starting with 89 and ending with a random number. If this number is already present, adjustments may be necessary. Refer to your eSIM setup page for complete information.
Finally, a poor Wi-Fi connection during installation could be the cause of the problem. This often occurs when using a public Wi-Fi network or one on public transportation. If you continue to experience difficulties, it is recommended that you contact support for assistance.
