What is the lifespan of an eSIM/plan?
Use the page content field for the main answer, steps, screenshots, and troubleshooting guidance.
What happens to an eSIM once it expires?
When a plan remains inactive for 12 months, it is considered "expired."
When searching the portal using an ICCID, the plan may appear as "expired" or may not be visible, depending on the service provider and the routing of the last assigned plan.
Validity Period
eSIMs ordered after May 6, 2025 (as announced by email on May 2, 2025)
eSIMs that are inactive for 6 months will be considered expired. This change does not affect eSIMs ordered before this date.
By shortening the eSIM lifespan, we reduce licensing fees, allowing us to offer more competitive pricing.
For partners with business requirements that necessitate extended lifespans, please contact your account manager.

How long is an eSIM valid?
Each eSIM is valid for 365 days.
When does this 365-day validity period for an eSIM begin?
Is it the day of purchase, installation, first activation, or use of the plan?
The 365-day period begins as soon as the eSIM is associated with a plan. It is renewed each time a new subscription is linked to an ICCID.
Is the 365-day validity of the eSIM extended with each plan top-up?
Yes, it is.
How can I check the expiration date of an eSIM while limiting API requests?
To manage this effectively, keep a record of the plans when they are issued and add 12 months to the issue date to get a clear view of expiration dates.
Does an "Access Denied" message mean that an eSIM has expired?
Yes, an expired eSIM will no longer be accessible by your organization. If an attempt is made to use it, the API will return an "Access Denied" message.
