On the Isle of Man, it's best to do this while you still have some network coverage or a stable Wi-Fi connection, for example in Douglas, as some quieter parts of the island are less convenient for completing a purchase. The time difference with France is minimal, so customer support is generally available during reasonable hours.
If the eSIM is already installed, the connection often appears shortly after exiting airplane mode. At Isle of Man Airport, near Ronaldsway, Wi-Fi can help with final adjustments, but it's more convenient not to rely on it exclusively. For a typical stay on the Isle of Man, a small to medium data plan is often sufficient if you mainly use Maps, WhatsApp, email, and do some research while you're there.
