How to activate eSIM on an iPhone or iPad in Türkiye?

Use the page content field for the main answer, steps, screenshots, and troubleshooting guidance.

To activate eSIM on an iPhone or iPad in Turkey, it's important to know that some devices purchased in this country may have eSIM disabled by default. If your device was purchased and activated after June 23, 2020, eSIM should be automatically activated during initial setup, and you won't need to follow the subsequent steps. If your device's eSIM isn't activated, it's recommended that you contact your mobile carrier. The instructions below are for those using devices purchased before June 23, 2020. Please note that this procedure requires a factory reset, so it's crucial to back up your data beforehand.

Start by performing a full backup of your device. Then, make sure you're using the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Go to Settings, then select General, followed by Transfer or Reset. Choose the Erase All Content and Settings option. You will then need to enter your password or Apple ID when prompted. Confirm that you intend to erase the device.

Once the reset is complete, restore your device from the backup you created. After that, you will be able to set up an eSIM on your device. Please note that in Turkey, to use roaming data services for 91 days or more within a 120-day period, it is mandatory to register the device's IMEI with the Turkish Equipment Identity Registry (CEIR). We recommend contacting the CEIR for further information. For any questions, please feel free to contact our support team.
